Finalists Showcase Brochure

The winners of the 2012 European e-Inclusion Awards have been announced. The announcement was made at the European Commission’s Digital Agenda Assembly Conference in Brussels on Friday 22nd June 2012.

We’d like to congratulate all the winners. The judging was very difficult this year as the quality of the entries was very high. In fact in one of the categories the entries were so good that the judges had to allocate two winners.

You can read about the winning entries here. There is also a Finalists Showcase Brochure which gives more details about each of the finalists in each of the categories. It’s been updated to include the winners and you can download the Finalists Showcase Brochure here (PDF 1MB).

Congratulations to all the finalists of the e-Inclusion Awards 2012. We have just published the finalist showcase brochure.

As an older person living alone I find being able to use the Internet has changed my life. In the last 2 year I have learned how to write a Blog and use Facebook and Twitter. I am now connected with so many people around the world, I no longer feel isolated.

Association E-SENIORS

E-Seniors is an association specialised in providing ICT training to seniors.

The aim of the E-SENIORS association is to fight against e-exclusion by providing access to and training in information and communication technologies for seniors and/or disabled people, with the purpose of: :

bridging and shrinking the digital gap between generations;
caring for elders by fighting against senior isolation, and
opening new horizons for the efficient use of free time.

One of our learners, Betty, accepted to witness about her experience.

We then added a few sentences coming from the feedback we get as, at the end of each training, we ask our learners to fill a questionnaire to evaluate the quality of our teaching, their feelings.

My knowledge of computer skills was limited to the basics of the Microsoft Office package. I decided to try it myself, and used the Joomla templates. The learning process lasted a few months. It involved numberless unsuccessful attempts, especially in regards to formatting text and inserting pictures, but now I’ve become an expert in editing the web portal.

The 50+ Positive Action Partnership aims to ensure our 50+ residents, communities and stakeholders are well informed and engaged. Through proactive approaches, older residents and those they interact with are encouraged and enabled to access vital service information online. We also actively get their voices heard on issues that matter to them through Digital feedback stories which are used to inform, improve and develop services.

Everyone – regardless of age, education level or social origin – should have access to internet and use it competently. To realize this vision A1 launched the initiative “Internet for All” and provides free-of-charge internet training programs and Internet access at the A1-Campus, in social institutions and with a bus throughout Austria.

Adecco Foundation have developed an initiative of Free Tolls of IT accessibility for people with disability.

Through its alliance-collaboration with INDRA we empowered universities, institutions and companies to disseminate accessible IT to everyone. Since 2007 we’ve tied both endeavours and its specializations to contribute for openness tools compromised with people in exclusion.

Age Action was established 20 years ago and is a national Irish charity for older people promoting positive ageing and better policies and services for older people. The Getting Started programme helps older people to gain confidence and basic skills in ICT and all tutors are volunteers.
