Fishing is one of the main economic activities in the Bahía region of Brazil, and many families depend on it for their livelihoods. However, the industry has recently been suffering from over-fishing, lack of investment and archaic infrastructures. This has resulted in a drop in income for the town and its people, leading to a lack of opportunities and causing family members to migrate in search of work.

The “Pescando con Redes 3G” programme provides through a Public – Private Partnership (PPP) funding, training and technical assistance to Brazilian fishermen to improve their living conditions and their way of life through the use of ICT.
