APPLIED RESEARCH AND COMMUNICATIONS FUND (ARC FUND)

During a period of 4 years, ARC Fund developed an interactive methodology to prevent cyber-bullying and e-violence by school children, had it approved by the Ministry of Education, trained over 150 educators in 5 cities (most of them teachers) who in the last 3 years delivered over 4,000 lessons to more than 15,000 children 12 to 18 years of age. Two guidebooks with 45 lessons were prepared and the first one was translated into English and provided as a resource to the INSAFE network of European Safer Internet Centres. Training of trainers is continuing and from 2012 training of trainers from the 28 Youth Information and Consultation Centres around Bulgaria started. They will be trained to train educators in their regions thus guaranteeing the sustainability of the programme. Besides raising online safety awareness and developing emotional intelligence among pupils the educational programme has been highly appreciated by the teachers who give feedback that using the interactive methods they have been trained in helps them for their everyday work with the children.
